This weeks wine is Jersey Devil Red from Bellview Winery in Landisville, NJ. Considering the name and that it’s from Jersey this wine is remarkably good. I’ve tasted a few Jersey wines (Tomasello, Renault) which always seem disappointing. That is not the case with Bellview. I’ve had a few of Bellview’s wines and they’ve all been good. So enjoy some home grown Jersey wine!
My reason for whining, which will come as no surprise to most of my Facebook friends, is no nap days. I used to joke when Jackson was an infant that it was a “No Nap Monday” like it was a weekly special at a bar. As an infant he seemed to never nap on Mondays. I have no idea why. While his naps have definitely become more regular there are still a few days that don’t go well. About 2-3 times a week he doesn’t nap for more than 20 -40 minutes at a time, which isn’t really a “nap”. If this happens in the am it throws the whole day off. Plans need to be pushed back in hopes of him getting a nap, because Jackson without a nap is not the type of person you want to have a play date with. Trust me.
On Tuesday he didn’t nap at all. By 6 pm he was crying to go to sleep, his eyes where red and he couldn’t enjoy anything. So he had his dinner, his bath and I put him to bed. I hate seeing him so cranky and no nap means not a minute of down time for me. It means a 5 minute shower and shoving a granola bar in the diaper bag as I run out the door because I never got to eat lunch. No nap means a cold cup of coffee. No nap means screaming during what could be a nice afternoon walk. No nap means that no matter what I try to do to amuse him he cries. No nap means a long miserable day.
No one seems to have a solution to this problem. Trust me I’ve asked. I asked the pediatrician today and she said if he wakes up and cries and doesn’t fall back to sleep after about 15 minutes that the nap is over and we should just move on with our day. I wish it was that simple.
So bottoms up to days without naps, I know I need a drink after one!
