We have made it through four foods so far. Seven, if you count in the three cereals but, the cereal seems like glorified formula to me, so I’m not counting it. We started with bananas, then pears, sweet potatoes, and finally apples. Tomorrow we get to try another one. I’m finding it hard to hold myself to the new food every 3 days routine. I love feeding time. I love the way Jackson leans forward for the food and how he laughs when I say yum yum yum and pretend to eat his food. (Though I do try all of his foods before he eats them, not because I’m afraid they are poison but, because I’m curious what they taste like. Also if you know me even fairly well you know that I love baby food, particularly bananas and apricots. ) I love watching Jackson’s face when he takes the first bite. His reaction is a mixture of surprise, anger, curiosity and then acceptance. It’s as if he is saying , “Wait, this isn’t my usual bananas and oatmeal ! Who would do this to me? Wait this is OK, I think I want more”. I just love the whole event. Putting the bib on him, securing the high chair, wiping his little hands when we are done; it all just makes me smile.
Simple little joys! My boy took 2 – 2 ½ hour naps today. I’m a happy mom!
Jack giving his best “what is this?” face. He gets more on the bib than in his mouth.
