July 1, 2011 7 months and 1 week
The immobile period is coming to an end. One day after I wrote my last post Jackson started creeping forward. Then yesterday he sat up on his own. He had been close to doing it for a few days but then yesterday morning he did it out of nowhere. He didn’t even seem phased by it, he just sat up and went about playing with his toys.
So I decided it was time to adjust the crib to a lower setting and take down his mobile. I realized that on the side of his mobile it said it remove at 5 months. Oh well, I guess, I’m 2 months behind. Last night before bed I took the mobile down which was easy but now I need to find a replacement toy. Jack’s mobile can be taken off and the base can remain. But the base alone is sort of lame. The base just lights up and plays the music. I would like to get him something a little more fun. I’ve been looking at a couple of models but I haven’t decided on one.
So this morning Jackson peed through his diaper, his pj’s and the sheet. I have been putting layers of sheets on the crib and a water proof pad in between each layer as Jess H. and Melissa A. suggested. This was such a great idea and works really well unless like me you forget the waterproof pad between the layers which is what I did.
I had to strip the entire bed. I thought this would be a good opportunity to adjust the crib since I was taking everything out of it. Well I failed to realize that this was more than a 5 minute task. I just assumed that there was a lever that would lower the whole thing.
I was wrong.
The whole bottom of the crib has to come apart. There are washers and bolts and screws and other little doohickeys that I was not aware of. It takes two people. After about 30 minutes of removing all the pieces, John and I had to call it quits because he had to go to work. So now Jack’s crib is a bare frame, the mattress is wedged next to his dresser and the bumpers are scattered about.
Now I had to find a place for Jack to nap, which thankfully I have the pack n play. So now I have the pack n play sitting in front of the crib with no space to walk around the room. I can’t get to the changing table because the mattress is wedged in front of it.
Which means I can’t change him on the table, not that that has been an easy feat anyway. The changing table is another item that is on its way out. I took the changing stuff and changed him on the floor which is really easier for me than the table. Though John has back issues and is really going to miss the table and plans to change him in the crib. To each there own.
Right now Jack is napping in his pack n play and has been for nearly an hour and a half. Hooray for the pack n play!
