June 28, 2011 7 months and 4 days old
7 months. Yikes, it sounds old. We are more than half way to one.
I thought by now I would have some new milestones to report, like crawling or sitting up on his own or pulling up on furniture, but I don’t and I’m not disappointed by this.
My friends daughter who is 3 weeks older than Jackson is practically walking. I know you are not supposed to compare kids but this seems to upset John. He always wants Jackson to be moving on to the next milestone. John gets down on the floor on his hands and knees and crawls along “showing” Jackson how it is done. Jackson just looks at him and laughs. I know John means well but this isn’t going to make Jackson crawl any sooner.
Personally I don’t care if Jackson crawls tomorrow or in 2 months. I get that kids do things at their own pace and I’m not worried that he hasn’t crawled yet. He rolls to get to his toys and spins in a circle on his belly. He’s not a bump on a log, he’s just not crawling. And I sort of like it that way.
I like that he can’t get too far away. I like that I’m not chasing after him, I have years and years of that ahead of me. I like this semi- immobile phase and I’m willing to hang on to it as long as Jackson lets me.
