I gave in.
Yesterday I succumbed to the sea of inflated Santas, candycane Hershey kisses and holiday commercials.
It started out innocently enough. The weather was nice and I had suggested earlier in the week that John put up the Christmas lights this weekend because it would be nice out.
And miraculously he agreed.
Then yesterday when he went to the hardware store I asked him to stop at Starbucks. I went to clean out my basement where I found Elf. When he arrived home with my salted carmel hot chocolate in a red holiday cup and started talking about the 12 foot inflatable Santa he saw at Home Depot, I knew we were both done.
He found the rest of my holiday movies in the basement and before I knew what happened I had found A Muppet Christmas Carole on The Hub.
We had done it. We caved in to the holidays 11 days before Thanksgiving.
And I feel no shame. Next stop the Island of Misfit toys.

Ha ha! I am a hardliner about no Christmas before Thanksgiving. Except for things that I do all year round, like Christmas music and movies. (The girls watch "Yes, Virginia" at least once a week.) Sidenote, did you know Periwinkle Papillon is doing an Elf link up? http://www.periwinklepapillon.com/2011/11/11/lights-camera-action-the-agony-and-beauty-of-elf-on-the-shelf/

We've already started playing Christmas music. My husband doesn't like it but I told him the day after Halloween was fair game. It's busy during the week though so unfortunately it only gets played on the weekend.
If Costco can roll out their Christmas stuff in August, then I can play Joy to the World in November.

I love Christmas. It's such a happy time of year. But it's really snuck up on me this year–we're having a baby in two weeks. I need to focus on the holiday though and get some things done.
Enjoy!

Ha ha! Well, there are certainly worse things you could give in to! 😉 Love it!
And that drink sounds SO yummy right now!

Uh, I've already set up our lovely little Christmas village in our living room. My husband had to beg me not to put up the Christmas tree…because I was so going to do that next.
I can't help but already be in the Christmas spirit when they're already playing holiday music on the radio and it's all over the stores!
