I lied. Last week when I wrote, “Sang the Wheels on the Bus till I was blue in the face while driving through North Carolina” I lied. See, the truth is I sing The Wheels on the Bus everywhere.
And in I mean everywhere.
In the ladies room at Kohl’s, while shopping in Target, when driving home from playgroup. I sing it loud when we are alone and I sing it softly when we are out in public so as not to look like a complete loon.
I sing it when making dinner and Jack is impatient or when making breakfast and Jack is impatient.
I sing it when he falls and bumps his head or when a loud noise scares him.
I sing The Wheels on the Bus anytime it’s necessary because for some bizarre reason the song always makes Jack stop crying. The Wheels on the Bus is fool proof and seems to stop any crying fit dead in its tracks. Once, The Wheels on the Bus start rolling nothing can stop them.
What song does your kids love? Is there a stange thing that brings your child comfort and calm?
Last week I wrote a list of things I had done for Mama Kat’s writers workshop. This week we were asked to expand on one of the items on the list.

Our song is The Lady with the Alligator Purse. He loves it. It works like a charm. I sang it for 2.5 hours once through PA on a road trip.
Solidarity.

I work at a daycare, and that song always brings the house down. 🙂 That, and "Twinkle Twinkle Little Star."
Stopping by from Mama Kat's. 🙂

I don't have kids, but I'm gonna try to make it a Beatles song. Or lady gaga haha:)

My 3rd son had the same reaction. He would scream bloody murder in the car. Nothing would make him stop…unless you sang the wheels on the bus. I must say…if I never hear that song again, it will be too soon. found you through mama kat.

Right now, Old MacDonald AND The Wheels on the Bus are on repeat. Every. Single. Minute. And like you, I find myself humming at work, in the shower, in the grocery store. If it's not those two songs, the one thing I can pull out that'll stop a fit in its tracks: the guitar (to which, even through tears, he says dun dun duuuuuun (like it's magic)). Still musical, so I guess there's a theme.

My kids are older and they love Adele and anything top 40. I have to be careful though because those songs can be very naughty. I keep appropriate CD's in the car to listen to as opposed to the radio because what they play is just uncalled for.
