We haven’t gone anywhere this Christmas. Unless you count the 20 minute trip down the parkway to my parents house for dinner on Christmas Eve, which I don’t. We’ve been home bodies this year. No running around, no crazy drives to visit family.
We announced early in the holiday season that we would be staying home for Christmas Day and that everyone was welcome to come over but we would not be going out.
It had become too hectic. In years past we would go to my Aunt’s on Christmas Eve, my parents on Christmas morning and John’s family on Christmas night. It was too much.
We never enjoyed it and this year with Jack being 1 we decided that it was time to start being selfish. To stay home and let Jack play with his toys and for us to relax.
So that is what we did and have done all this week. We’ve been lazy.
I haven’t cooked, I haven’t cleaned, I’ve done minamle laundry. John has gone to work and I’ve worked my two days. But when we get home the holiday lazy continues.
I was going to cook a big pasta dinner the day after Christmas for the 3 of us but John insisted that I just take the easy way out. So I opened a jar of sauce, skipped the meatballs and browned the sausage and poured a glass of wine.
Sure the house is a mess and I just let Jack yank all the tissues out of a box just cause he was enjoying it. But I’m not trying to impress anyone. It will be New Years Day soon and this wonderful holiday season will be over. We’ll put away the toys and I’ll scrub the toilet. The clothes will get folded and dinners will be made. At some point I’ll upload the 200 plus pictures I took over the holidays. But for now we lounge in PJ’s and eat leftovers. Tis the season.

Love, love, love it. It's as it should be. We had company all week and after they left it was leftovers for Christmas Eve. They tasted so good. Must have had something to do with almost no prep work and no one to entertain.

Sounds PERFECT! We only got one lazy day this week, but it was wonderful! I am looking forward to the day I get the courage to tell my family we are staying home for the holidays! Happy New Year!
