About 2 weeks ago I decided it was time to give up the morning nap. I made this decision after Jack stopped taking his afternoon nap. This has not been an easy transition for either of us. So without further ado here is my Ode to the AM nap.

Today I bid a fond farewell to my dear friend, the morning nap,
For 13 solid months you were a reliable friend.
Every day at nine am you gave me an hour or two of solitude, that my sleep deprived body desperately needed.
A morning filled with a cup of coffee and some writing,
Though mostly I read blogs, checked in on Facebook and Twitter
I filled the time with a long hot shower and important decisions like which sweat pants to wear.
I folded laundry and watched my soaps.
I prepped for dinner and caught up on celebrity gossip.
I lifted weights and worked on my abs.
I ate donuts and read the paper.
Oh there wasn’t much I didn’t do with you, morning nap.
I even on occasion indulged in a morning nap myself.
So my friend I bid you farewell,
may we meet again, in the afternoon.
I remember it well, definitely a sad farewell. Lifting weights and eating donuts, love it.
