Jack took his first steps about a month ago.
It was a Saturday morning and John was off. Out of nowhere Jack let go of the coffee table and took three quick steps towards John. We both stared at Jack in disbelief. After months of waiting the moment had arrived. I couldn’t believe my eyes, my little guy was walking.
John moved him back to the coffee table and he did it again. And then the moment was over and he was back to crawling around.
It was a perfect little moment that we were all there to witness. Even Bailey puppy seemed impressed.
Right after it happened John asked, “Did you update your facebook to say he’s walking?”
I glanced at the computer and said, “no”.
I wanted to hold on to the moment and keep it to myself. It was my babies last big milestone and I wanted to savor it.
I wanted that moment that wasn’t videotaped or posted to facebook to remain etched in my brain. I wanted it to last as long as possible. Because everyday Jack becomes more toddler and less baby and I wanted to hold on to the baby days just a bit longer.
I wanted this one to be mine for awhile. I didn’t want to share it.
I share so much of my life; here, on facebook and on twitter. I wanted to keep this moment as mine, at least for a little while. I didn’t want it to get lost in a sea of facebook updates or tweets.
So for a month I didn’t share it. I kept it to myself and cheered like it was the first time every time he took a step.
And now I’m happy to say my baby boy is walking. Look out world
Have you ever had something you didn’t want to share?

Sometimes it's nice not to share every little thing!
What a milestone!

Yeah sometimes it is nice.

Awww, I think it's lovely that you chose to keep this milestone to yourself to savor until you were absolutely ready to share it with the world.
These milestones are so bittersweet and once they happen, you can't go back and re-do them.

It's so true once it's over, it's over. Now he walks around like it's no big thing.

Haha even the puppy was impressed huh? Too cute. Get ready because soon after walking they start running.

I know he moves faster every day and Bailey keeps jumping out of his way.
