Brightside

Brightside

I keep thinking back on the post I
wrote last week about my insecurities regarding Facebook status updates.
It got me thinking, maybe it’s me,
not the happy go lucky Facebook posters that have it wrong.
Maybe it’s me who
is focusing on the negative rather than the positive.
Maybe I tend to only see
what goes wrong instead of what goes right.
And I think maybe I’m right.
I’ve
never been much of a glass half full kinda gal. Or one to search for silver
linings and when one door closes all I tend to see is a closed door.
In high school I loved to blast
Garbage’s “I’m Only Happy When it Rains”.
I was once told I was a pesstimist,
which Is something I still resent. I just like to think I’m more of a realist.
I take the good with the bad, but I know it’s not all sunshine and rainbows.
Sometimes it rains and then it pours and then you realize you don’t have an
umbrella and you’re six blocks from home with a screaming baby. But I digress.
Because while it isn’t all sunshine
and rainbows it isn’t all doom and gloom either. It’s not always raining and
for the most part I’m not really happy when it does. Though it does tend to
supply good material for this blog.
So I decided that I’m going to
start making an attempt to focus on the good. The happy little moments that
shine through even on the dreariest days. The brightsides.
The brightsides are just little
moments that made me smile, laugh, feel appreciated or loved. They are the
little moments that I tend to forget.

So without further ado, here are
some of the brightsides of the past week:

–
When I left for work on Tuesday I asked Jack to
give me a hug. He ran across the room and gave me a hug for the first time.

–
On Thursday I was looking for something in my
purse and I found Jack’s scuba steve toy. Just seeing that little toy hanging
out in my purse made me think of Jack and smile.

–
I asked Jack for a kiss and he surprised me with
two kisses on the cheek. I love the way that he looks like a Who from Whoville
when he gives kisses.

–
After a long day John surprised me by picking up
the toys and bringing me home ice cream.
What were the brightsides of your
week?
And for the record, just cause I’m going to try and focus on the good doesn’t mean that I’m not still going to keep it real, ok.

Scuba Steve! That made me smile too! Life is better when you highlight the good things but it is also good to let the bad out too…people just don't air that on FB too much because they don't want people to know those things.

You are right about FB and that life is better when you highlight the good.

My week has been a little tragic so far. (I think it has something to do with my period.) But my little girl is the cutest thing ever and she does something every day that makes me remember that being a mom is awesome.

Once in a while Glenn will bring me frozen yogurt, definitely makes my day. My best friend is visiting me this week so that is for sure what is making my days lately!

It's actually good to be realistic then a dreamer 🙂
Just except who you are. Not everybody can be the glass half full. You actually don't need to be "half-full" in order to feel and be happy. Be what you are most comfortable with and stop carrying about what people are saying about you.
    Good luck!

It's the bad that makes the better blog posts sometimes, don't they? Love that you decided to look on the bright side for this, though!

Crazy week, so I'm just getting around to visiting now- but thanks for linking up! 🙂

Keep it real, yo. 😉 I'm not always happy-go-lucky either, but I've been trying hard to appreciate and notice the good things. Because lord knows, there are plenty of bad things!
