We had the house to ourselves this weekend, since my parents are away on vacation. So we invited a few friends over and had a BBQ.
And I totally intended to take pictures, I even put the camera on the table (where it is still sitting). But some how those intentions got lost in the cooking and cocktail serving (and drinking) and watching the kids play and laughing and chatting with friends that I’ve had for over a decade.
It was so nice to be able to have all our friends together, so much so that we invited a few back to watch the Eagles game the next day.
We ordered pizza and drank beers and soon game time rolled into dinner time and we ordered some seafood and made a night of it.
One friend stayed for 9 hours but we weren’t complaining, it was just nice to have friends around.
I think John and I were reminded of how much we used to enjoy having people over. Since moving in with my parents we haven’t been able to do this.
But last week the short sale house that we are buying was FINALLY approved. Soon we will be packing ourselves up and moving into our new home.
And I can’t wait for the all the BBQ’s, parties, dinners, and play dates that we will be able to have.
I can’t wait to be neighbors with some of our best friends and for Jack to have playmates in our neighborhood.
I can’t wait to have a home to welcome my friends and family into.
I can’t wait to reclaim that part of my life that has sat dormant for 4 months. I can’t wait to cook in my own kitchen. I want to be lazy all day with no one asking me what I’m going to do next.
I can’t wait for all the little moments that will make our new house a home.
Get the wine glasses ready, we’re moving!

So excited for you and your new home. I love having friends over. We got together with friends Friday, Saturday and Sunday and not a picture to be taken, we were having too much fun.

Don't you just love it when you are so in the moment having a good time that you forget to take pictures.

Yay, congratulations!!! That's fantastic. I know exactly what it's like to move back in with parents as an adult, and while it's good to save money or whatever, the loss of freedom is hard to swallow!

The loss of freedom is so hard to swallow. I look forward to simply putting on sweat pants and no one asking if I'm cold.

Congratulations! Moving is hard work, but so fulfilling. We'll be moving by next May. I don't even know what to really think of it, but an adventure it will be.
🙂

Moving is hard work and after this move I hope we won't be doing it again for a long time.
