1.) Tell us about the moment you knew your spouse was “The One”.
John and I had been dating for 2 years and decided to go to a fancy restaurant to celebrate.
We were 20 years old and the restaurant we picked was definitely more upscale than our budget.
I brought a new dress for the occasion. I felt like a grown up going to a fancy restaurant with my boyfriend.
We were seated at a romantic table and opened our menus. I couldn’t wait to devour everything and the restaurant was known for their “dessert encyclopedia”.
John was smiling at me and I remember thinking, it was so perfect.
One of those moments when you are young and in love and something as silly as dinner at a fancy restaurant can feel magical. Love and fine dining were all so new to us.
Then she appeared.
She was a girl that I had been friendly with. We weren’t close but she was good friends with a few of our mutual friends. For whatever reason we had a falling out, that I was only remotely aware of.
Gossip fueled life in those days (and sometimes it still fuels these days) but I had heard from a friend that she was mad about something, she claimed, I had said.
But whatever it was, there she was to spoil the evening.
Dressed in her black waitress’s outfit she approached the table, glided past me and walked up to John.
“Hi John it’s soooo great to see you” she gushed. “How have you been? I haven’t seen you in forever” she said, without ever acknowledging me.
I was fuming. I was mad.
And then John looked her dead in the eyes and said in his most serious tone, “That’s because I avoid people like you, Tina.”
And with that she walked away.
And in that moment I knew.
I knew I had found someone who would have my back. That regardless of circumstance he would stand by me. That he wouldn’t allow me to be treated unfairly.
I knew I had found a keeper.
I knew he was the one.
How did you know your spouse was “the one”?

Julia Hunter says
Yeah he is great on the spot where I just sat there looking mad.

Oh my gosh I love this. Definitely a keeper. Girl drama is the worst and that's awesome that he didn't let her get away with being so snarky.
Julia Hunter says
I hate girl drama and it never really seems to fully go away.

Your husband kicks bum!!! I love that!!! I am straight forward like that too. If you cross my friends or family then you cross me.
What an awesome story!!!!
Julia Hunter says
He really does kick bum. I try to be straight forward but I tend to back down from confrontation.

I don't miss them either but I think with every stage there is some kind of drama.
