I’ve been having a hard time finding the right words to sum up our Disney trip and the one word I keep coming back to is, “magical”. It seems like a cliche but magical is the only word that fits.
When you take a 23 month old on vacation anything can go wrong. When you add that the vacation is to Disney World and the chances of something going wrong easily doubles. I think that because with a toddler and with Disney expectations are always high.
And to say mine weren’t would be an understatement. I’m a gal of high expectations.
But from the moment we arrived at Disney’s All Star Music resort I knew everything was going to be OK.
Why?
Because our room was ready for nap time and had a sweet little curtain divider so that Jack could have his own sleeping space. Saving us the dreaded sharing a room and waking up super early to play with mama and daddy fun that we had on our Aruba trip.
The next day we headed out to the Magic Kingdom and I left my plans in the room. I left my expectations sitting on the night stand next to my list of “must see” attractions. I was just going to roll with it.
And it worked. We had no waits. With the exception of the Winnie the Pooh ride we had no waits. This was also the only ride that scared Jack. Apparently Pooh’s trippy heffalump dream is scary to a 2 year old.
That was how each day was, simple-carefree-magical-fun.
Like riding Dumbo to his hearts content.
And stopping in Epcot to play the drums.
The week was filled with little moments that brought me to tears.
Like during rope drop at the Magic Kingdom and the train pulled in and Jack pointed and yelled “I see Mickey”.
Or the moment that his eyes filled with wonder as we sailed through It’s a Small World.
But for me the most magical moment was after our first full day in Disney. We had put Jack to bed and John flopped on the bed and said, “I am exhausted but that was so much fun. Really I am so glad we did this, Thank you for planning this trip. Today was perfect, one of the top 5 best days ever”.
My husband who said that Jack was too young, who said that this trip was just for me, was thanking me for pushing him to book this trip.
Now that is magical.

When we were at Disneyland It's a small world was closed & it's my favorite. Glad you decided to roll with the punches and have a good time, so much more fun!

Oh that would make me so sad if Small World was closed. It is my favorite too.

Okay, you had me at the picture. Magical is the PERFECT word because it's the only word that really fits. It is my absolute favorite place on the planet because when you travel with small kids, you are forced to really live in the moment. That last part kind of made me tear up because my husband is the same way and if I heard him say those words, it would be magical, too. 🙂

It is one of my favorite places on the planet too. I really teared up when my husband said that.

I guess that really IS the word for it, isn't it? I hope we can take our kids in the next couple of years. Glad you all had such a great time and experience!

I think there is a reason it's called the Magic Kindom, lol. You and your kids will have such a good time when you go.
