We bought the train set, I don’t know how many years ago.
On Black Friday, on a whim, because we were in a Christmasy kind of mood and it was on sale.
Before children had ever crossed our minds.
And we set it up that Christmas, and then we put it away.
I thought it was sort of silly for two adults with no kids to have a train set.
But this year on a rainy Sunday we pulled the trains out of the garage.
And I watched as my husband and our son set them up around the tree.
I couldn’t help but take pictures.
There is just something so classic, so perfect about a boy and his dad playing with trains, around a Christmas tree, no less.
When we purchased those trains I never imagined this moment. Never knew what this little boy would add to our family. Never knew how that train set would touch my heart and bring a bit of magic to a dreary Sunday.
Jack is just the sweetest! His facial expressions do me in every single time.
Trains are so much fun. We have a huge garden center that puts up a major train display every year. We love to head over, order a cup of hot cocoa and watch the trains run by and through. It is so relaxing and you always catch something you didn't on the first, second or third go around.
That sounds like such a fun tradition, I love doing little things like that during the holidays.
Oh that is a whole lot of lovely magic right there! *Swoon*
Thank you, I love little moments of magic.
I'm with Galit–it's just a lovely moment! I'm really glad you guys bought–and kept–that train set.
And I bet you are too!
I really am. It's funny we discussed tossing it when we moved last spring but I'm really glad that we didn't.
It was just meant to be. Perfect!
Yes I think it was.
There is something about watching a boy and his dad set up a train set. It's magical and touches the heart in the sweetest way.
Lovely moment captured here!
Thank you Kimberly.
LOVE. Those are special moments that you will never get tired of repeating. The start of a tradition.
Enjoy your Christmas train.
I love a good tradition and I hope this is one of them.
Oh, this is just precious. Maybe somewhere, your subconscious knew… I like to think anyway… 🙂
I like to think that too 🙂
What a beautiful moment. Love this. And I have to admit, there's something timeless about watching a trains during the holidays.
Yeah trains and the holidays just kind of go together.
I don't have boys so I'll probably never experience the magic of trains and Christmas but I'm sure it's magical!
Growing up I always loved my Dad's train set, so you never know.
He's so adorable! Reminds me when my boy was around that age and crazy about trains too 🙂
What is it with boys and trains : )
Oh I love train sets! So classic christmas! I've been thinking about looking into one when the after Christmas sales start.
It is classic christmas and you should definitely get one.
