Time for Trains

We bought the train set, I don’t know how many years ago.

On Black Friday, on a whim, because we were in a Christmasy kind of mood and it was on sale.

Before children had ever crossed our minds.

And we set it up that Christmas, and then we put it away.

I thought it was sort of silly for two adults with no kids to have a train set.

But this year on a rainy Sunday we pulled the trains out of the garage.

And I watched as my husband and our son set them up around the tree.

I couldn’t help but take pictures.

There is just something so classic, so perfect about a boy and his dad playing with trains, around a Christmas tree, no less.

When we purchased those trains I never imagined this moment. Never knew what this little boy would add to our family. Never knew how that train set would touch my heart and bring a bit of magic to a dreary Sunday.

Making the trains go!

Jack is just the sweetest! His facial expressions do me in every single time.
Trains are so much fun. We have a huge garden center that puts up a major train display every year. We love to head over, order a cup of hot cocoa and watch the trains run by and through. It is so relaxing and you always catch something you didn't on the first, second or third go around.

I really am. It's funny we discussed tossing it when we moved last spring but I'm really glad that we didn't.

I don't have boys so I'll probably never experience the magic of trains and Christmas but I'm sure it's magical!
