Jackson came home from school last week talking about Valentine’s.
I’ve never been big on Valentine’s Day, but when a 2 year old smiles at you and says he wants to make Valentine’s, well you make Valentines.
And it was more fun than I thought it would be. I cut out the hearts while Jackson napped and when he woke up I had stickers and crayons ready to go.
With each heart Jack thoughtfully picked out stickers and colors and said, “this for mom-mom” or “I make one for Bailey”. And his enthusiasm for the holiday was so lovely, so non-commercial, so fun and oh so heartfelt.
All things that Valentine’s Day should be.

He looks so excited about it, I think I would have caved as well 😉
My kids are thankfully old enough that they don't do the Valentine's thing at school anymore, in fact it's considered uncool at this point and that's just fine with me!

I remember that age, I think Valentine's Day was simple when it wasn't cool.

Awe that is so cute! I spent a bunch of time doing valentines day cards with my girls and then never sent them out. Maybe if I get them in the mail tomorrow someone might get them on time:( ugh
Julia Hunter says
I sent them out late but I figured it was the thought that counts.
Alison says
Aww, it really is love for him, isn't it?
Sweet as pie.
Julia Hunter says
Thank you, I love this age all they know is love.

Oh, he looks so cute working on his Valentines! We're a bit slack about Valentine's Day around here these days. My girls are too old to get that into it, and the boy is too young. Maybe next year!
Julia Hunter says
I think some years it's nice to take a break from Valentines Day.
Mama Pants @Thefamilypants says
What a sweet sugar!! I love the framed heart face <3
Julia Hunter says
Aww thanks, I had to keep cutting hearts so that he could stick his head in the heart.
Sarah Reinhart says
Go lil man! look at those handmade lovelies 🙂 V-day isn't necessarily my fave holiday either, but you're right. Hard to resist the spirit when the kids are into it 🙂
Julia Hunter says
He makes me get into the spirit of things that I never imagined I would enjoy.
Kim@Co-Pilot Mom says
Fun and heartfelt is the way Valentine's Day should be, for sure! Love those Valentine creations.
Julia Hunter says
That really is what it's all about… not overpriced candy and cards.

I love making hand made valentines with my kids, too. And I am so not crafty. It beats the store bought crap any day.
Julia Hunter says
Way better and less expensive than the store brought ones.
Greta @gfunkified says
My girls have been doing this too. We did store-bought for their classes, but they made homemade ones for their grandparents and teachers. He is so cute with his crafting!
Julia Hunter says
Thank you he is just starting to enjoy making crafts and I love it, though I'm not all that crafty.
Carolyn Y says
We did homemade last year, but this year Julia wanted Princess ones. I'm not that creative!
Julia Hunter says
I'm not all that creative either had this required more than construction paper, crayons and stickers we would have been in trouble.
AudreyN says
Oh my goodness how cute is he! My son was still totally not into doing valentines, I had him pick some out at the store and then decorate the envelopes to mail to his cousins

Don't the holidays take on a whole new meaning once kiddos are in the picture, it just makes everything so much better.
