This is the April edition of Old School Blogging and I’m participating in hopes that you get to know me better and I can learn a little something about you : )
1. How did your husband pop the big question?
For a long time John and I thought we would never get married. We lived together and we owned a home and we weren’t really sure we wanted to get married. We were quite settled with ourselves but you know every girl kinda wants to get married. So we were going to Disney World with his family over New Years and I just had a funny feeling he was going to propose. I told my bff this because if he did propose I wanted to be able to say, “I saw it coming”. So all week he kept talking about us spending some time just the two of us and I kept expecting a ring. We went to dinner on New Years Day and after dinner he insisted we take a walk along the water at Disney’s Yacht and Beach Club resort. Then he suggested we sit on the beach. He kept dancing around it saying things like, “Do you think you would want to do the whole marriage and kids and dog thing” ( he was so nervous). Finally he got around to asking at which point I said “YES” and snatched the ring out of the box and shoved it on my finger. I was really over eager and excited. It was perfect.
2. What are the three most surprising things about married life?
That you can know someone so well that you can finish each other sentences and think of what they are going to do next, the way you can just be insync with one another.
That it’s a learning experience with a really big learning curve.
That each year we get a bit better at being married and our relationship grows.
3. How did you find out you were pregnant for the first time?
Oh lord I sorta hate this story. We had been out at a party and I had taken a test the week before when my period was first late and it was negative. But according to something I read, the morning after the party would have been the first day to know for sure if I was. So when we got home at midnight I took a test and it was a hazy positive, so I immediately made John go out in the middle of the night to the 24 hour CVS and buy another one. 2 tests later I was fairly convinced and excited and nervous.
4. How did you choose your first baby’s name?
Years before Jackson was born I was watching All My Children and Erica and Jackson Montgomery were getting married again. And I thought to myself Jackson, that’s a nice name. I looked it up and it means John’s son, which is fitting. John liked it cause one of his favorite characters on a SyFy show was Lt. Daniel Jackson. To this day we still argue over which Jackson he is named after.
So yes, I named my son after a soap character….
And last month I got to meet the actor who portrayed his namesake.
5. Describe where you see yourself in 10 years from now…
Living in this house with 2 kids and god willing Bailey puppy. Married for 16 years. Hopefully I will have found a career that allows me to write and is flexible enough for me to be available to my kids. I know that sounds like a bit of a pipe dream but it’s my goal. I hope that I’m a better photographer, writer and that I’ve finally finished a crochet project. Oh and I have a pool, I so want a pool.
6. Describe how you find bliss, either with words or images.
Bliss is sharing a new experience with Jackson, traveling, a cold drink on a hot day with friends, laughter, the comfort that my marriage brings me,my nighttime walks with Bailey, Jackson saying “mommy”, cooking in my kitchen and family hugs.
In quieter moments I find bliss in taking time for myself – reading, writing, working on a crochet project and, yes, by watching my soaps.
Where do you find bliss? How did your significant other pop the question? What are your stories, I would love to hear them and I hope you enjoyed mine.

Oooh, 2 kids, I like that! 😉
And the name thing cracked me up. The fact is you both liked it, even if for different reasons and I that's great!
Thanks for linking up, my friend! 🙂

I love that you got engaged in Disney World, since that is my favorite place to visit!
I had to laugh at the repeat pregnancy tests because when I was pregnant I took a TON of tests just to convince myself that I was still pregnant. 🙂

Loved getting to know you more personally. I think how you found out you were pregnant is a great story! I picked Lila's name after the character Lila Fowler from the Sweet Valley High books. I started reading them in 7th grade and as soon as I read that name I fell in love with it.
