I’m not always patient and I’m a stickler about bedtime. I like to keep to a routine, to have a plan.
So when life hands me the unexpected I’m not always good at rolling with it. Even when the unexpected is a fun night at a friends house.
We enjoyed Mexican take out and margaritas and before I knew it it was half past bedtime and I needed to get home and feed Bailey.
Jack and I said our good byes and hurried up the block to our house. He had his Cars ride on toy and he was smitten. It wasn’t new though he hadn’t ridden it much. But that day he discovered it like it was a new toy and all he wanted to do was, “ride my car”.
And all I wanted to do was get home.
But he was so happy with his “new” toy and so content to ride along and stare into the night sky. He was happy to tell his mama, “I see clouds” and “look at the moon”.
And I was patient as we slowly made our way home. I suppressed the urge to tell him to move faster or to hurry up. I forced myself not to push the car along or ask him if I could carry him.
I let him have the moment. Even though it was late and the dog was hungry and it was going to be a long weekend and Jack so needed all the sleep he could get.
I pushed it all aside and let my little boy drive his car home, and that moment was worth it.
Do you ever have trouble just living in the moment?

Constantly! But I am working on it :-).

I do have trouble with that but I am trying to get better. It's hard though. I like to stay on schedule too but sometimes it is okay to just roll with it… 😉

I can be SO impatient but have gotten so much better through the years. Good for you for slowing down and appreciating the beauty in that simple but oh so precious moment.

I'm so bad about being impatient, but when I can just let go, it is definitely worth it. I love these pictures!

I can get so focused on my to-do list and timetable that I forget that everything doesn't have to be so scheduled.

YES! I'm really working on staying present, but with life's many to-dos and distractions, it's an ongoing challenge, for sure. Your little boy is such a cutie!

AWWWW, he is so cute on that car!
I have to remind myself to take a deep breath and relax. My daughter has only been here for three years; she hasn't seen all of the things we have, so give her the time to appreciate it.

Oh, I love this. Cuteness on wheels. Self-admittedly I'm not much of a stickler. Don't get me wrong, I enjoy a routine. Just not a schedule. With four littles I'd be pulling my hair out far too much for my liking if I was down to the minute on things. Whatever works for your family though right? So glad the two of you had this moment 🙂

Good for you, that you were able to have this moment with your little guy. I don't think I could have done it. I'm very much a slave to my own schedules and routines. Unfortunately that means I don't live in the moment a lot and miss out on some of the good stuff… so good for you!

These moments all whiz by far too quickly. Good on you for being so wise, and taking it in.
