My son has taught himself to curse.
And I’m not talking about the swear words that most of us are accustomed to. He doesn’t go around dropping the F-bomb.
But when he gets frustrated he mutters to himself. At first I couldn’t make out what he was saying but then one day as he dropped his Mickey Mouse while going down the stairs I heard him, say “Oh Chicken Bottoms”.
I asked him to repeat it, surely he had said something else, something that made sense. But no I was right he had said, “Oh chicken bottoms”.
And I couldn’t help but laugh. And I laugh every time he says it. Like when his tricycle is stuck in the stones or when his shoe fell off while riding his car
I can see why he says it, it’s kinda fun to say. And now I find myself saying it when we are together and something just isn’t going our way.
And this is one of the things I love about two and a half, the silliness that he doesn’t even know is silly. This is one of the things I want to remember, that I want to never forget.
And there are so many of these moments every day and if I had the time I would document them all. But I don’t, oh chicken bottoms.

haha! How cute. My girls went straight to bad words using damn-it. I am guilty of saying that alllll the time.
It sounds so cute coming out of that very young mouth.
We have switched to heavens lately and I've gotten better with the swearwords.
I love how clever he is!

I LOVE that phrase. We too run around repeating the hilarious things that come out of our girls' mouths as little inside jokes.
