Days of Summer – Week 4

We’ve hit a bit of a summer slump. Maybe it was the weekend that seemed to never end or that the 4th of July was a bit of a wash. Whatever the case, I know I was feeling great about how summer was going and now I’m feeling a bit “meh”. I swore I wasn’t going to over burden us with plans after the way June was but now I’m feeling like I haven’t planned enough at least for Jackson who still wakes up every morning wanting to know what we are doing next. As for me I would be content to stay home and curl up with a book by the pool.

Friday July 4th

It rained pretty much all day and I was starting to go stir crazy to the point of texting friends and babysitters and I desperately needed to get out of the house. Luckily my friend and her husband stopped by and we left the men to fend for themselves and went out for a few drinks. Which is not something we get to do often enough.

Saturday July 5th

It was July 4th 2.0 around here since most of the 4th festivities had been postponed. I’m not a big fireworks person and won’t go out of my way to see them so we skipped them again this year. I didn’t feel like any of us were missing anything, especially when Jack woke up screaming at 8:30 from the noise of some our neighbors fireworks. Other than that we just enjoyed the day at home by the pool.

Sunday July 6th

Jack and I rode bikes for a bit and then we hit the pool. A friend of our came over for dinner so we put Jack to bed early and had some adult conversation. Oh and I made that cobbler I mentioned on Facebook.

Monday July 7th

I always try to pack all the house stuff (laundry, food shopping, cleaning) into Monday’s and sometimes it works really well and other times not so much. This week was definitely a not so much. After the grocery store I attempted to put Jack down for a nap and get some stuff done but nap only lasted 45 minutes. We ended up having a great afternoon playing in the pool.

Tuesday July 8

I was at work but made a point of taking a picture early in the day. I get up at 5:30 on work days and get ready and then come downstairs to try and have a few minutes to myself. After work John and I had a lazy night until a thunderstorm started coming in and we ran around to move all of the patio furniture. We got it in before the rain, we make a great team.

Wednesday July 9

Another work day. Also John finally fixed the mirror on my car which after 4 months was definitely worthy of a photo. I treated myself to some retail therapy after work and stopped at Target.

Thursday July 10

It was a glorious rainy day. Maybe I’m the minority but I love rainy days. Jack and I ditched his gym class and watched Winnie the Pooh and the Blustery Day. We made a tent in the living room and I gave him some toys I had kept aside for just this kind of day. Then we went to visit John at work and took lunch to my mom. After lunch we went to TJ Maxx and I got 2 dresses for Blogger Bash. That night I went to see Chef with some friends and it was seriously the best movie I’ve seen in ages, totally a must see. Thursday was proof that rainy days can be the best days.
