Summer is over. I say that with a sense of sadness, and relief and knowing full well that come January I will be wishing for warmer days. It’s been a good summer and a busy summer. I didn’t make a bucket list this year and I sort of regret that, I feel like the summer went by in a bit of a blur. We were either super busy or at home recuperating from being busy. And event though I did this photo a day project, today on the last day of summer, summer still feels like a blur.

On my way home from work I got one of my favorite text messages from my neighbor, “beer?” But I was still 45 min from home so I had to pass but luckily he doesn’t take no for an answer and shortly after I got home him and his family showed up with beer and we ordered excellent Mexican take out and had a great night.

My college roommate who is about 5 months pregnant came to visit with her husband. We had a great afternoon catching up and eating dinner. I can’t wait till their little one is here. John and I enjoyed the sangria from Valenzano Winery that I picked up at Truckerton.

This was a recovery day from a very busy weekend. We ran our errands and then relaxed at home. It was a good day for being lazy. Jack did some painting, can you see the tree?

We went to a play date in the morning where Jack was shy at first but then ended up having a great time. Then we came home for some quiet time and then headed to the park for a bit. I let Jack take the camera as we walked along the trails. This has become our new thing to do and I love seeing the world through his eyes.

Jack and I went to visit my Mom in Sea Isle, we visited some of our favorite places that will soon be closing for the season. Jack also got his Halloween costume, he is so in love with it. Did you see him on Instagram?

It was a really long day of work and then I had to pick Jack up from my parents. All things considered John and I had a really relaxing night.

John took an unexpected day off, which is so rare around here. We had a nice day at home and then went out to dinner and to Historic Smithvillle to take a walk and shop. We let Jack pick one ride and he picked the pedal boats, making this the second year we have done this. Maybe it’s becoming a tradition?

We headed to PA to visit family and the boys had a great afternoon.

Labor Day! My neighbor and I did some early morning shopping. Later John and I ran some errands and finally got curtains that we like for the living room and a full length mirror for our bedroom. We had a Thanksgiving dinner with our neighbors and enjoyed some pumpkin beer with a cinnamon sugar rim, so good!
And that’s it. That was our summer. And while I’m sad to see it go, I’m ready for whatever fun fall brings. Fall is always a great time of year here. It’s still nice enough to go to the beach, there are tons of outdoor events and festivals and of course it is the season of all things pumpkin. I’m ready for a new season!
