Dinner and Drinks: Week 3

This week is the first week I started getting my Door to Door Organics delivery. I won a gift certificate a few months ago and finally got around to using it. I’m so thrilled to have fresh organic produce in the house again.

meal plan with wine pairing

Monday: Sweet Potato and Apple Soup. I love soup and will probably make at least one a week through the winter. This soup is surprisingly easy and delicious, and will go great with a simple salad for a healthy dinner. Especially when you are planning to eat some wings and watch Monday Night Football later.

Tuesday: Shells and Sauce with Broccoli Kale “Meat”balls. One of John’s favorite comfort foods is shells shaped past and sauce, something that his family ate a lot of as kids. I love these Broccoli Kale “meat”balls they are easy to make and a great addition to a simple dish.

Wednesday: Pizza. I made pizza dough over the summer and froze it, so John requested that i make up some pizza’s this week. I’m not a big fan of plain pizza and love this Apple and Goat Cheese Pizza.

Thursday: Spinach, Potato and Chorizo Tacos. I know what you are thinking potatoes in tacos? But these are seriously amazing. Leftover can double as a breakfast dish or be added to an omelet.

Friday: Tortilla Stuffed Flounder. I have been making this dish for years and John still loves it. It’s always a hit and it’s so easy .

Drinks!

Last week I featured two red wines so I thought it was only fair to feature 2 white wines which I think will pair well with almost all of these ( I tend to prefer a red with pasta).

Cline Viognier
Cline Viognier and 14 Hands Chardonnay

Cline Viognier is one of my favorite wines. At about $12 a bottle it is an excellent white wine and if I”m unsure what I want to drink this wine always hits the spot. It is smooth and crisp with hints of peach and apricot. This would pair well with any of the dishes.

14 Hands Chardonnay, 14 Hands wines are a go to for me when I’m looking for a great crowd pleasing wine. This chardonnay isn’t very oak tasting and instead has delicate floral and vanilla aromas. It goes great with food.  At around $11 a bottle 14 Hands Chardonnay is a deal.

What is on your meal plan this week? What are you drinking?
