Summertime and reading go hand in hand for me. But honestly last year I really didn’t do very well with my reading list and lately I’ve been hard pressed to find a book that I could get lost in. Sometimes you just get stuck in a book rut.
But this summer I’m getting out of my rut. I’m part of the book club in my Mom’s Club and I’m rebooting a book club that my friends and I had started a few years ago. And my favorite wine shop, Passion Vines, is having a book club that involves wine tasting, it really doesn’t get better than that.
So I have a lot of reading ahead of me this summer and I’m excited about that. Here’s a look at what is on my reading list this summer.
Carry Me Away
– Robb Grindstaff
I just finished it and loved. Carry Me Away is about a pre-teen girl who’s life is changed forever after a devastating car accident has left her on the verge of death. This book is one part Me Before You and one part The Fault in Our Stars, if you liked either of those books I think it’s almost a guarantee you will love this one.
In the Unlikely Event
– Judy Blume
Just typing Judy Blume, brings me happiness and I knew it would be the perfect pick for restarting my book club. I honestly don’t feel like you can go wrong with Judy Blume.
Eight Hundred Grapes: A Novel
– Laura Dave
A family drama set in a Sonoma Vineyard, need I say more.
The Freaks Shall Inherit the Earth: Entrepreneurship for Weirdos, Misfits, and World Dominators
– Chris Brogan
I heard Chris Brogan speak at Disney Social Media Moms and I was lucky enough to come home with a copy of his latest book. Hearing him speak was one of the highlights of the conference day for me and I hope to find more inspiration in his latest book. And seriously with a title like that how can I not be intrigued.
The Grown Ups: A Novel
– Robin Antalek
A coming of age novel about 3 friends and the struggle of growing up and still remaining friends. I’m always a sucker for a coming of age story and this one seems promising.
