I love fashion. I love sitting down with a glass of wine and watching project runway. I love shopping and putting together a new outfit. I love mixing and matching accessories. But I am far from a fashionista and I would never even attempt to say I’m a fashion blogger. Cause I’ve had my share of fashion faux pas.
Take last summer, I was well into a summer romance with maxi skirts. They went with everything, they were dressed up or down, they were super comfortable no buttons or zippers and so easy to wear that I started buying them in every color. On one shopping excursion I picked up some new underwear and a maroon maxi skirt, which I wore to work the next day.
As I walked into work, my co-worker (who thankfully is one of my sweetest friends), said “Jul, what does it say on your panties?”
And to my major embarrassment it said, “yeah right”. Apparently the panties I brought had writing on the butt and the skirt was see through in the right light, a really awful combination. Lesson learned don’t buy panties in the juniors department and sometimes paying more for quality is important.
While you might think, I would have learned from this moment and gotten my fashion act together, I have not, and last month at a blogging event I had a friend adjust my dress because my bra was hanging out.
See me looking all cute and my bra hanging out. |
Which lead me to realize that I need to clean up my fashion act and come up with some solutions.
Bumbrella is a light weight slip that you can wear under dresses and skirts. What makes Bumbrella different is that it has built in underwear (brief and thong versions). I wore Bumbrella under a dress to work the other day and it was super light weight and comfortable. I definitely felt comfortable and I didn’t have to worry about the possibility of my dress being see through. I would have never thought to buy a slip, but I love this product and I see it becoming my go-to for dresses.
I have a few tops that the cut isn’t perfect for the bra that I have, like the dress I wore to the event last month. The next time I wore the dress, I used Supportables to tape the dress to the bra so that the side of the bra wouldn’t peak out. I wore it to work and it was perfect and I could finally feel confident in a dress that I loved. I also used it when I went out to Atlantic City on my Birthday, I wore a dress that the cut just doesn’t allow you to wear a bra. To make sure that everything stayed where it needed to, I used Supportables and was able to dance to all my favorite songs without any fashion faux pas.
The Right Fit
I will admit I have never paid much attention to the fit of my bra. And when I went to Getting Gorgeous in New York last month, the woman at Bali were nice enough to measure all of the attendees to determine if they were wearing the right size bra. And guess what? I wasn’t. They provided all attendees with Bali bras in the right size. It’s amazing what a difference the right fitting bra makes to how your clothes look and how you feel in them.
Wearing Bumbrella, supportables and the right bra and a whole lot more confident. |
I was provided with these products. I was not required to write about them. All thoughts and opinions are my own.
