Educational Toys Gift Guide

As a parent I like to find educational toys that will engage my son, as opposed to toys that make noise, flash and require batteries. But educational toys seldom make it on my sons wish list, and I’m not sure why, especially since once he plays with one, he tend to want to play with it again and again. Like the microscope he got a few years ago that inspired him to want to take more nature walks. And that is one of the things that I love about educational toys they open up opportunities for more learning and kids learn something while having fun.

Some of these toys featured in the guide were provided to me to check out for the holidays and others are ones that we’ve discovered on our own. If you decide to purchase one of these toys, please use one of the affiliate links in this post.

Educational Toys that should have a place on your kids wish list.

Educational Toys for Christmas

Animal Planet Click & See Projector Toy

Click the disk into place (similar to an old school viewfinder) and turn off the lights to view different animals. This toy is just the right size for little hands and a great way to learn about different animals. You can use the slides to discuss where animals live, where you find them and discuss the difference in each animal. The Animal Planet Click & See Projector Toy comes with 3 slides: birds, mammals, and sea creatures.

EDUCATIONAL INSIGHTS GEOSAFARI JR. JUNGLE CREW LAB SET

This 6 piece jungle themed lab set is perfect for young scientists. The set includes 10 lab experiments that include easy to find household and outdoor items. With STEM learning being all the rage these days this lab set is a great way to introduce science and math skills. All lab pieces are made of plastic and are thick and sturdy so you don’t have to worry about them breaking.

Thames and Kosmos Kitchen Chemistry

For kids who have advanced beyond the Geosafari Lab Set, the Thames and Kosmos Kitchen Chemistry is a great for the 7 and up crowd. Using household items (think sugar, salt, vinegar) kids are introduced to the 10 most important topics in science. The set comes with test tubes and eye-dropper and written and visual instructions to help you through each experiment.

Snap Circuit Beginner Electronic Discovery Science Kit

My husband loves electronics and is eagerly awaiting the day that Jack is old enough to join the robotics club. Until then they will be playing with the Snap Circuit Electronic Discovery kit. The kit comes with 14 pieces that can create 20 different projects. Once completed each project will be a functioning circuit board. All of the parts have extra safety features so you don’t have to worry. This toy teaches problem solving skills and is great for young engineers.

What are some of your favorite learning toys?
