This week we added a new addition to our family. No, not the baby, that’s still a couple of months away. But last week we decided to adopt a dog. It wasn’t something that we had planned to do but, after losing Bailey our home seemed empty and when John started talking about getting another dog, I couldn’t help but look. The first search I did on Rescue Me, the first result was Elvis. And from there it just seemed meant to be.
So on Super Bowl Sunday, John picked Elvis up and brought him home. He was an instant fit with our family and we couldn’t be happier to have him and give him a forever home.
February may be the shortest month but the weather has it feeling like a really long one. I’ve been trying to warm up any way possible. Whether it’s curling up by the fire with a good book or having a warm bowl of soup for lunch, I’m definitely dreaming of warmer days.
Last night I started reading The Storied Life of A. J. Fikry. A friend recommended this and it started off great so I’m looking forward to seeing how it plays out. I’ve been in a bit of a reading slump lately, where I keep starting books but not liking them enough to finish them. Have you read anything lately that you couldn’t put down?
Soup has been on our weekly menu. Here are a few of my favorites that are in a regular rotation this time of year.
Easy Slow-Cooker Beef Vegetable Soup
And these easy soups that you can make using your immersion blender.
Warmer weather is not the only reason I’m looking forward to spring. The third trimester has hit me harder than I remember (though isn’t forgetting how hard pregnancy and labor is one of the biggest pregnancy myths), and even though I know this little girl needs to stay put for another 2 months I’m definitely over being pregnant.
How was your week? Any great recipes to share?
