Sunday Sips and Snacks

February is the month of the year where I find myself day dreaming about tropical locations (more than I usually do). February is usually the month where I declare that I’m packing it all up and moving to Florida because, you know winter. And while this winter hasn’t been so bad I still find myself dreaming about tropical locations and drinks with umbrellas in them. If you are feeling the same way here are some of my favorite tropical places to get you through winter Marco Island, FL (sigh) and Aruba (double sigh). Needless to say I was happy to say goodbye to February this week.

Sunday Sips

The third trimester has not been easy and I’ve been struggling to find foods that are healthy and agree with me. If I could I would easily eat sweets every day but, that isn’t the best option. I was recently sent Nothin’ But snack bars and granola cookies to sample. I loved the Chocolate Coconut Almond, it even has a bit of espresso in it which makes it the perfect afternoon pick me up. Another favorite of mine is the Peanut Butter Banana Chocolate. What I loved about Nothin But is that all of the ingredients are things I have in my own kitchen. There is no additives or words that are hard to pronounce. These are granola bars the way I would make them.

I haven’t done as much cooking lately as I usually do, because well pregnancy… that’s my excuse for everything these days. But I did manage to make this picky kid approved chicken that Jack loved and a chicken pot pie that was a hit and the recipe will be coming soon. It’s an oldie but a goodie.

As a treat to my sweet tooth I made my friend Marci’s Blueberry Goat Cheese Scones, though I subbed strawberries because I had them on hand and I have to say these are one of the best scones I’ve ever had.

I’ve been trying to take it easier lately which isn’t always easy when there seems to be so much to do. I did grant myself some rest on Monday and watched some of Fuller House. It was a total trip down memory lane and while I only had enough time to watch the first 3 episodes, I really liked the return of the Tanners, one liners, lame jokes and all.

John and I watched Chef this weekend, a movie I saw in theaters a few years ago. I love this movie and if you love food this movie is a must watch, even John enjoyed it and that says a lot because usually if it doesn’t have explosions he’s not amused.
