June always seems to be a busy time of year. We have something every weekend this month and pretty much some kind of plans during the week. Life was never this busy before kids or even when Jack was younger. The older he gets the busier we get, sigh.
This week Jack graduated from pre-k and I made it through without crying. It probably helps that he will be going to the same school next year. It was a great school year and I loved his teacher and the friends he has made. He said his favorite part of the school year was making new friends. I love that.
I’m at that phase in the school year where I can’t wait for it to be done and yet I’m panicked about what we are going to do for 10 weeks without school. A few years ago I created these rules for summer vacation and I like to refresh my memory each summer and a couple of times during the summer so that I don’t start feeling like a failure.
We went strawberry picking last week at one of our favorite farms. I loved spending the day at the farm with Jackson and that I had more than enough strawberries to make this delicious strawberry cobbler. I may have eaten half the pan alone with a spoon.
I’ve been reading Fates and Furies by Lauren Groff, it’s been an easy read but I’m finding the characters to be very unlikable. A few people in my book club have finished it and the reviews have not been positive. If you’ve read the book I would love to hear what you think, but no spoilers.
Nicole, one of my readers, sent me a bottle of One Hope Pinot Noir which I have been enjoying immensely this week.. It’s delicious and a little fruity (think blackberries) and a great summer red wine. It pairs perfectly with getting your fussy baby to sleep, and I look forward to it after a long day of praying that Grace naps. Besides being delicious each bottle of One Hope wine gives back to charity, so I’m drinking and doing good at the same time. Did you happen to see the cute quotes on their corks that I posted on Instagram?

Oh, how I love that cobbler recipe. I use it for strawberries (obviously), and also peaches, blueberries, raspberries — and even apple (with cinnamon). Mmm… It gets better the longer it sits!
