Having kids 5 years apart means accepting that they will never be in the same stage at the same time. And a lot of time I have found that it means putting one kids needs before the others because kids are on different schedules and the preschooler needs to be picked up regardless of the infants nap and sometimes play dates will be missed because the baby is napping. You can’t make everyone happy all the time.
One of the things I was worried about most going into the summer was trying to balance both kids. I wanted Jack to be able to have fun and enjoy the things he loves like the beach and the pool and I wanted to be able to handle having a baby with me safely while we did these things. At first I thought that I would have to schedule a sitter to watch Grace while Jack and I went to the beach or that pool time would be regulated to Graces nap time.
A few weeks ago in a baby wearing group I’m a part of a mom posted a picture of her in a bathing suit wearing her baby with the caption, “ready for the pool”. The carrier was made of a light weight material and looked perfect for the pool, I immediately messaged her to find out what it was. The carrier was a Bity Bean and after doing a bit of research I reached out to Bity Bean to see if I could try one out.
Ways Bity Bean Makes My Summer Easier
Hands Free
Jack is five and he loves to run and explore and play when we are out. The Bity Bean gives me the ability to be hands free which means that I can hold Jack’s hand, I can carry a bucket at the beach for him, I can always be within reach in the event he needs me in the pool. Being hands free isn’t just about being able to do other things it is about allowing me to play and keep my son safe.
Can Wear in Water
What drew me to Bity Bean was that you can wear it in the water. The lightweight nylon and polyester carrier is perfect for the water because unlike a cloth carrier it doesn’t stretch or absorb water. The material is also unlikely to get sand stuck to it. When I wore Grace in the pool this past weekend she loved it and found it to be soothing. We stayed in for a while and I only got out because I was worried about her getting cold when it grew cloudy out. Otherwise she would have been happy to stay in longer.
Compact
When going anywhere with kids there is always an abundance of stuff, especially when going to the pool or the beach. I hate the idea of adding another item to my list of things not to forget but the Bity Bean is easy to remember because it’s compact, light weight and easily stored. It’s only slightly larger than a can of soda when stored in the bag that it comes with. The Bity Bean easily fit in the side pocket of my beach bag, so we are always ready to go.
Lightweight
I can admit that I have become obsessed with baby wearing since having Grace, they are convenient and soothing to her, so what’s not to love. I have tried a few out and the Bity Bean is by far the most lightweight carrier that I’ve used. While other carriers have light material I still tend to sweat in them, not the case with the Bity Bean.
My favorite things about Bity Bean is that it allows me to be present with both my kids at the same time. The days are long but the years are short and I feel like summer is flying by. I didn’t want us to spend this summer indoors just because we have a baby. Bity Bean allows me to get outside and be present with Jackson this summer. It helps me continue to do the things he loves while having Grace with us. It keeps Grace safe and close to me. She can nurse or sleep in the carrier while Jackson and I are on the go.
Bity Bean is for babies 3 months old and 8 lbs to 40lbs and can be worn as a back carrier for babies that can sit up unaided. Bity Bean has an optional hood that supports the head and can be used as a shade in the sun.
I was provided with a Bity Bean to review, all thoughts and opinions are my own.
