Many of our summer weekends are spent sitting out by the pool. Jack loves to swim and it’s easier for us to hang out at home this summer than it is to take a 4 month old and a 5-year-old to the beach. There are no chairs to carry or bags to pack, no sand to clean off and if the day rolls into night or friends stop by, I can quickly head into the house order a pizza and make up a batch of Simple Fruit Infused Sangria.
I made this Sangria a few weeks ago when we had some friends over to swim. I wanted something easy and delicious that would survive in the summer heat. I used ingredients that I had on hand and threw together this fruit infused sangria in just about 10 minutes (in between putting the baby down for a nap, putting sunscreen on the 5-year-old and desperately calling my husband to remind him to pick up beer). So yes it is that simple to make.
Simple Fruit Infused Sangria
1 bottle of Cabernet Sauvignon
2 cups of sparking fruit juice. I used sparkling blood orange juice from Trader Joe’s
2 cups frozen fruit ( I used mixed berries and peaches but any fruit you like will do)
2 shots brandy
Place frozen fruit in a large pitcher. If you have a pitcher with an infuser place the fruit in that. Pour wine, sparkling fruit juice and brandy over the fruit. Stir to combine and refrigerate one hour. The frozen fruit will continue to keep the sangria cold for a few hours.
I mix up lots of different kinds of sangria throughout the summer based on what I have lying around and this one was a huge hit with our friends and probably the simplest one I’ve made. With a few weeks left in the summer I’m going to be making more time to relax and enjoy some sangria by the pool.
