You are 8 months old and you’ve come so far from that tiny little baby we brought home. It’s hard to imagine that you were once that little or that we were worried about you gaining weight. Now you are all chubby thighs and belly laughs.
This month you learned how to crawl backwards. You are so determined to move forward and you regularly get those chunky thighs stuck under the sofa. You love to move and hate being confined. At your age your brother was happy to sit in the pack n play for hours but you are only content for a short time and you quickly let us know.
You are impatient when you want out of something or when you are ready to move on to something else. You get angry when breakfast isn’t served the moment you are placed in your high chair.
You went from not being interested in food to trying to steal a tater tot off of my plate at a restaurant this weekend. You open your mouth so wide with every spoonful that your dad says you look like an anaconda about to attack. You love food and haven’t met a fruit or veggie you didn’t like.
When we go out people are quick to comment on how happy you are and how pretty you are, and you truly are both. You love to give shy little smiles and side-eye, you are definitely a social baby.
You have few toys, mostly just hand-me-down toys that were your brothers but soon that will change. You like crinkle books and rattles but you would rather move around than play. You like to be in the center of things and hate to be left out.
You are joy, a name I almost gave you, and a word that perfectly describes you. You bring so much joy to our lives and we are so blessed to have you. A year ago this month, I found out I was going to have a daughter and you my dear, are everything I dreamed of and more.
