Red Wine Brownies a Simple, Yet Fancy Dessert

A few years ago I read a book that mentioned “secrets of adulthood” basically a list of things you know to be true about you and your life that you live your life by. Things like “someplace keep an empty shelf” or “the best reading is rereading” These are personal to everyone and don’t have to be the same for everyone. When I read the book I remember thinking that one of my rules of adulthood was that I always keep a box of brownies in the house. I can’t tell you how many times having a box of brownie mix in the house has saved me when I needed a dessert for book club or if we have guests last-minute and I want something to put out.

Brownies are my go-to and I have a favorite, Trader Joe’s Truffle Brownies are the best boxed brownies I’ve had. On their own they are delicious but when paired with the right things they are heavenly.

I saw a few recipes for red wine brownies floating around but I didn’t want to take the time to make them from scratch when I had the best brownie mix already in my house. So using my box of Trader Joe’s Truffle Brownie mix and some red wine, I dare say I made them better.

Red Wine Truffle Brownies

1 box Trader Joe’s Truffle Brownies

1 stick of butter melted

2 eggs

1/4 cup red wine

Directions: Preheat oven to 350. Melt butter in the microwave, it should look creamy. Beat 2 eggs into the butter, add brownie mix and stir till combined. Add red wine and mix until combined. Bake at 350 for 30 minutes.

The red wine does something wonderful to the brownies, it makes them fudgier and enhances the chocolate making these incredibly delicious. I took these to book club and everyone immediately wanted the recipe, I almost hated to tell them how simple it was.

If you want to up your dessert game or make this recipe for a special occasion serve it with a glass of Camus Borderies VSOP Cognac which pairs incredibly well with chocolate. With hints of orange and a smooth finish this is a great finish to any meal and a pairing that is bound to impress your hubby, guests or yourself after a long day. Because one of my other secrets of adulthood is that it is okay to treat yourself.

I was sent Camus Borderies VSOP Cognac to try. All thoughts and opinions are my own.
