Thanksgiving is my favorite meal of the year. I plan my menu out weeks in advance and love mixing new dishes with old favorites. I also love picking out the wine to pair with the meal. Each year I go to a wine tasting with my friend and I love seeing how experts pair the wines with different sides. One year I put little signs in front of each wine letting my guests know which wine goes well with each dish. Thanksgiving wine pairings are one of my favorite parts of the meal.
Thanksgiving Wine Pairings
I like to offer my guests a mix of white and red wines. Some people only drink one or the other and there is no problem if you have a preference for white or red because both pair well with Thanksgiving Dinner.
I always like to start the day with prosecco and end with that too. I feel like prosecco is the perfect drink to kick off the holiday season and light enough that you can switch to another wine later. And while I tend to prefer reds around the holiday, I usually go with white on Thanksgiving. The great thing about Thanksgiving and wine pairings is that there are really no right or wrong answers. But if you are stuck wondering what wine to buy for Thanksgiving use this great infographic from Tussock Jumper wine to help you decide on your pairings.
My personal favorite wine pairings are Thanksgiving are Pinot Noir, Malbec, Chardonnay (it really does go well with mashies) and Prosecco. I usually like to go with 2 reds, 2 whites and a sparkling which will give your guests a great variety to select from.
