I Am (Poem)

I Am

I am disappointed yet hopeful
I wonder what’s
around the corner
I hear clocks ticking
I see leaves changing colors

I want to grasp it all
I am disappointed yet hopeful

I pretend to
be indifferent
I feel the days passing me by
I touch the sand
I
worry that I’m missing something
I cry over spilled milk
I am
disappointed yet hopeful

I understand that seasons change and doors close

I say this is an opportunity
I dream of my words turning
into gold.
I try to hold my head up and keep my pen down.
I hope that
this is my moment.
I am disappointed yet hopeful

Linked up with Mama Kat’s writers workshop the prompt was
4.) Fill in the blanks of this template and create your own I Am poem.
This poem was inspired by the news that my position at work will be terminated come the end of August. While I am being kept on as a per diem employee, losing my job was not something I anticipated.

It stinks mostly because I really thought I would be working for this company for a long time. Thanks for stopping by .

I love this! I actually did this as an assignment when I was in 10th grade. Mine was based on "I am believer of true love but broken hearted." I had just had my first real crush break up with me. I got an A. I can remember some of the lines of it. Wish I could find it in my parents' house but no such luck.

I am so not a poet but I appreciate your simplicity. I am such a big believer that opportunities exist if you are open to them. I also feel it's totally ok to be sad and disappointed. Feel it. It's good. It makes the good better.
