Get er done

1/28/10 – 9 weeks and some odd days. CONT..
I never realized how much time I wasted or how valuable my time was until I had a baby. Now every moment is precious. It could mean more sleep or just a chance to shower. Every decision I make through out the day has a price. Spend an extra 10 minutes in the shower and the baby wakes up early from him nap; then I’ve lost the 10 minutes you needed to empty the dishwasher and make bottles. Decide to read a book for 30 minutes and I can forget vaccuming the house. It all comes down to deciding what I  want or more importantly what I need to do more.
So here’s my tip. If the baby has been fussy all morning and is finally down for a nap and you haven’t had a cup of coffee and the house is a mess and all you want is to read the paper. Then by all means, let the house be a mess. Grab the paper and a cup of coffee and enjoy it while you can. However if the house is a mess, you have no clean laundry, you just used the last bottle and the sink is overflowing with dishes and the baby went to bed after a happy playtime and you feel you should congratulate yourself with a cup of tea and that book that has been sitting on your night stand since a week before the baby came, well think again. If you’ve reached the point where your wardrobe is covered in spit up you need to get moving.
I’m all for letting the house when the baby is fussy. This is the time to do something to make mommy  happy but when the house has reached the point of no return and you’ve been having a good day  then you have no excuse not to get the house work done. If you keep letting it go, it will only get worse and when you have a day where the baby is fussy you will look around and become angry with the state of your life. You will wreak of spit up and be wearing your pjs holding a screaming infant while you desperately try to make a bottle. Where if you had gotten the house work done then all you would have would be a screaming infant and you can look around and think well atleast I did what I could when I could.
