The Random Drop In

July 4, 2011 7 months and some odd days
I hate the random drop by.
I always have. The random drop by is when people show up unannounced at your house. I hate it even more now that I have a baby. Because it is almost inevitable that if someone randomly stops by they are going to ruin a nap, which is what happened today.  I don’t care if you are “just dropping something off” or “you were in the neighborhood” don’t stop by without a call or a text. It’s rude.
Today my MIL randomly stopped by our house because “she had some of the babies stuff” (which she had for about a month, so why today?) and was “in the neighborhood”. She dropped by 40 minutes into Jacks nap and as I heard Bailey barking at the door I turned to John and said “If it’s your parents I’m going to slaughter them”.
Yes slaughter. It was not my finest moment.
John’s parents are the King and Queen of the random drop in. They have dropped in while John and I were mid coitus (thankfully in the bedroom). They have dropped in while I was in my PJ’s lounging on the couch without a bra. In the hazy days after I had Jack they would almost always drop in just as Jackson and I’s heads had hit the pillow for a nap.
It’s there thing and it has been since John and I moved into together nearly 6 years ago. When I found out I was pregnant one of the first things I wanted John to do was to ask his parents to call before they come over, because I knew going in that this would eventually happen. His mom has no sense of schedule or routine. She does what she wants when she wants, without any concern for how it might affect other people.
So she dropped by and woke Jack up.
Then she wanted to come back because John had been stung by a bee and she wanted to apply meat tenderizer to his wound.
Yes, meat tenderizer.  A lovely mix of paprika, salt and pepper.
I told John he had to tell her to call before she came back. So John got a shower and headed out to run errands. He ran into his mom at Kmart. Where she decided it would be a good idea to apply meat tenderizer to his bee sting. Yes, she attempted this in the entrance to Kmart. Thankfully John didn’t allow it.
What are your thoughts on the random drop in? Do you love it? Or hate it?

Hate them! We are so busy during the week, all of our mail and stuff gets dumped on the table and in the living room by the door. I know it's messy and looks like we are hoarders, but we're not, we just don't have time to stop and sort until the weekend. Inevitably, Thursday or Friday night (when it's at its worse)someone knocks on the door and I would like to "slaughter" them!

OMG! We had this same discussion over the weekend. Hate them!!! Fortunately for us it as only happened about 3-4 times by my MIL and I can/t think of anyone else who has. Of course, each time has been when Connor was napping though and he definitely woke up. Sucks!
