2011 year in review
Rang in the New Year driving down I-95 watching fireworks over the Philly skyline, soothed a colicky baby, cried a lot, slept a little, went back to the gym, mall walked, read The Happiest Baby on the Block, slept a little, felt frustrated and lonely, raced a screaming infant out of the mall, shushed and swaddled to Jack’s content, had drinks at The Continental, spent days covered in spit up, blared Katie Perry and Lady Gaga to soothe, introduced Jack to one of my oldest friends, loved Jack’s first smiles, watched my soaps, celebrated Valentines Day in Philly, feasted on wine and cheese, was in bed by 10, cuddled my little boy, read stories, sang songs, celebrated Anne’s 30th, brought “Sea Isle to Margate” for one night only, got excited to plan a wedding, missed Aruba, survived colic, started a blog, had drinks at Lucky Bones, snuggled with Jack, went back to work, missed Jack, cried a little, watched Jack roll over, walked the bike path, missed out on Bag Day, skipped St. Patrick’s Day, started Jack on solid foods, quit my job (but only for about a week), had one last battle with the “wicked witch”, felt relieved, welcomed TJ Creamer, dealt with a child who refused to sleep, cried a little, let him cry it out, worked a few days a week, celebrated Jack’s christening, was heart broken when my soaps were canceled, cried, went to baby showers and sprinkles, celebrated the arrivals of Gabriella Brunetti and Logan Grote, had a wonderful first Mother’s Day, played in the park on Father’s Day, watched Jack sit up on his own, celebrated the 4th with friends, watched fireworks, went to Washington, saw the Space Needle and Pike Place Market, was unimpressed, did Karaoke in a dive bar, celebrated Lisa and Justin’s wedding, was a matron of honor, felt extremely proud, played Dance Central, went wine tasting and beer tasting all in one day, drank too much, had a wonderful time with my hubby, was happy to come home, danced with the girls at Providence, sang The Killers at RiRa, was mistaken for hookers in AC (but high end hookers), took care of a sick baby, nearly lost Bailey puppy, was panicked, learned to ask for help, worked 2 days a week, watched Jack start to crawl, had dinner with an old friend and her hubby, had drinks at the Dead Dog, laughed a lot, sang, laughed and danced at Britney Spears, got a new car, traveled to the Outer Banks with friends, celebrated our 30’s, swam, drank and ate, went shopping, visited lighthouses, sat on the beach, was oblivious to an earthquake, ignored Irene, was evacuated out of NC, made a mad dash for home, was evacuated out of SP, became refugees, bunked with the Brunetti’s, hid in a bathroom with 3 kids and some scared mommy’s during a tornado warning, survived Irene, was up to my elbows in poo, went home, shopped at Fall Family Festival, ran with a stroller in the rain, celebrated christenings and birthdays, jumped in a bounce house, danced at Gypsy Bar, shouted Mr. Brightside, went to Smithville, laughed when Jack broke a plate, bid farewell to All My Children, cried, played at the park, pushed a happy baby on a swing, went to a playgroup, felt awkard, made a new friend, picked pumpkins, survived a corn maze, took Winnie the pooh trick or treating, weaved a basket, attempted to knit, celebrated Thanksgiving and Jack’s 1st bday, was thankful, started a playgroup, got hooked on The Hunger Games, danced at the HS Holiday party, drank too much, filled my belly at Ruth Chris, smiled while Jack sat with Santa for the first time, ran a screaming toddler out of storybook land, had drinks with my old besties, went overboard on Christmas, celebrated the holidays with friends and family, had a low key nye, bid a sweet farewell to 2011. It wasn’t the wildest or craziest year and I drank less and went out even less, I spent more days in slipper than I did heals but it may have been the most wonderful year yet; filled with small moments that filled my heart with joy: smiles from Jack, watching my sister in law get married, laughing in wine country with my husband, watching my parents play with Jack. And moments with my amazing family of 4 that made me know that all the sacrifice, spit up, poop, and foolish arguments are worth it. Bring it 2012, you have big shoes to fill.

Funny, amazing and so very realistic. Hard to believe but I bet this year will be even better. Jack will grow so much your head will spin. It's so fun though.

Thanks Marie, I can only imagine how much he will change between now and next year.
