Bon Bini – 5 Reasons to Vacation in Aruba

Aruba is my favorite vacation spot. The island is beautiful, the people are welcoming and the food is amazing. And everything about vacationing in Aruba is relaxing. You can do as little or as much as you want. You could spend all day lying on the beach reading a book or you could spend it touring the island in an off-road vehicle.

5 Reasons to Vacation in Aruba

5 Reasons to Vacation in Aruba

1). Palapas.
Palapas are one part tiki hut all parts relaxation. Sitting under a palapa is the perfect way to spend your day in Aruba. And nothing is more fun than enjoying a happy hour cocktail while watching the sunset from your palapa. Just saying the word palapa makes me smile.

2). Balashi.
Balashi is the beer of Aruba and it is delicious. Also it can not be purchased in the US which makes it even more of a treat. Also Balashi is just as fun to say as palapa. Now say it together, “I’m having a Balashi in my palapa”.
3). Formaggio
You don’t have to travel to Italy to have the best pasta in the world, you just have to travel to Aruba. Formaggio is an art and is best prepared table side. A giant wheel of cheese is placed at your table and filled with whiskey. The whiskey is then set on fire as the chef stirs it around to melt the cheese. Then already cooked pasta and sauce are added to the cheese. It is all tossed together until the pasta is coated in cheese, sauce and whiskey and every bite is to die for.

And did I mention that the last time we were there they let me help : )
4). Blue Water.
This ain’t the Jersey shore, folks. The water is crystal clear, warm and calm. Perfect for swimming and snorkeling. Or just staring at from your palapa while drinking a balashi.

5). Off Road Adventures
The beaches are beautiful but the really cool part of Aruba is the other side of the island. Where there is a national park and lots of barren land sprawled with cactus. On our last trip John and I rented a Jeep and left the resort behind to explore the other side of Aruba. We traveled to the highest point on the island where the view is breathtaking.  There are caves and hidden beaches (no swimming allowed) and all kinds of beautiful sights that you won’t find anywhere else.

In a few weeks we leave for Aruba and while I’m looking forward to all of my favorite things. I’m also looking forward to all the new things that I will be able to enjoy with Jack. I’m sure I will come home with different adventures and more reasons to love One Happy Island

I've never been to Aruba – I have been to other Caribbean islands and we really enjoyed it. Have a great time when you go, and make sure you still enjoy a Balashi in your Palapa! Just give Jack a good slathering of sunscreen. 🙂

I think Aruba just moved up on my Must Go Visit list~ a whole lot! I want to enjoy a Balashi in my Palapa! That sounds all sorts of fab.

I long for anything with the warm sunshine, sandy beaches & relaxation, especially this time of year! Loved this post, thanks for sharing {and OMG I need to try that pasta~ that looks amazing!}. I'm sure my husband will thank you tonight as well, since I'll be showing him pictures from your blog and suggesting we book our next vacay asap. 🙂

    Have fun on your trip!
