The 7 People on Facebook on Snow Days

This morning I woke up to school cancellations and checking my Facebook news feed before starting the day with an overly excited 4 year old. And there they were the people who clog up my Facebook news feed every time it snows.

The Person Who Loves Snow

She does not give a shit if it’s March or that spring is coming, she still loves the snow. She’s just as excited as her kids are about the idea of building a snow man, making snowballs and drinking hot chocolate. She never tires of watching the white fluffy flakes fall. She likely posted a status at 6 am, saying “Enjoying hot chocolate and watching the snow fall. Can’t wait for the kids to wake up so we can go out and play!!!”

The Person Who Hates Snow

This person starts the day by threatening to move somewhere warmer, she dreaming of flip flops and frozen drinks. Snow once a year is more than enough for her. She would much rather be the beach. Her idea of winter is 60 and breezy. She’s already making plans for her retirement in Florida. Her morning status update, “I want to build a sand castle, only 120 days till summer”.

The Overachiever

You feel accomplished because you got out of bed while this person has already had her kids out in the snow and moved on to crafting. She has decided that today will be science day at home and has a bunch of experiments involving snow planned for the day. All of which involve bringing the snow inside. Her status, “We’ve declared today Science Snow Day! Lots of fun experiments planned for my little scientists”.

The Person Angry with the Weatherman

This person wants the weatherman’s head on a stick. They are angry that the snow did not start at exactly 10 am like predicted. They are pissed off that the weather man was calling for 6-9 inches yesterday but have now backed it down to 4-8. They wish that they could perform as poorly at their jobs as the weatherman do. You will know them by this status update, “Where’s the snow? In my next life I’m going to be a weatherman so that I can have job security even when I fail”.

The Person Angry with the School System

They were awoken at 5:30 and told school is closed yet, they have not seen a snow flake. They are mad that once again the school has made a bad call and now the kids will have to pay for it in the summer. They are the same person who was complaining when it snowed a week ago and school wasn’t cancelled. They are likely friends with the person angry with the weatherman. Likely Facebook status, “Will this school system ever get it right? In my day they waited until it snowed to close schools. So disappointed.”

The Teacher.

This person innocently shared her insider knowledge that school is closed and now she’s wishing she hadn’t. People are blowing up her post with comments of “it must be nice” and “I wish I got off every time they predicted snow”. She was not at all prepared for the onslaught of negative comments about her profession, she merely was trying to pass on the news. Likely status, “All county schools are closed, enjoy your snow day!!!”

The Person Who Lives Where it’s Warm

They see your snow pictures and raise you one picture of a palm tree and an umbrella drink. They love to post meme’s of snowmen moving to Florida. This person comments on all the snow posts with “Sunny and 75 here” or “It was 60 yesterday, so cold!”.

So which Snow Day friend are you?

This is so true! I take it as it goes. As long as I have a day this weekend to celebrate my birthday, I am good!

I'm firmly in the Person Who Hates Snow category, except I'm Canadian, and therefore Florida is not an option.

I plan to win the lotto, and head to the Carribean instead.

Sitting here watching the snow fall and I am truly the person that hates the snow, winter, cold and pretty much all of it and curses when the school are closed. So, you summed me up perfectly! LOL 😉

I started the season excited by snow, and now I'm sitting comfortably as a person who hates every single snowflake. Winter can kiss my arse!

I'm the teacher, and I hate when people tell me that it must be nice to get paid to stay at home. Yeah no, they dock our pay or we have to use sick leave.

Haha – I'm person #1. I feel like we had snow all winter when I was a kid and then these weird balmy winters for years, so I really enjoyed last winter and this winter. But I'm usually just as excited on rainy days or crisp fall days or hot summer days, so I'm probably just the annoying chipper person no matter what.

This is true! I’m the person who hates the cold. And who gets upset about snow days, ha. Even though I know they are necessary. And then other mothers are like, “Don’t you want your kids around? Isn’t is great?” and I’m like, “Not really. Now I can’t read in peace.”

LOL, I totally get it there is no reading in peace with kids around.
