You are 9 months old, it is hard to believe that you have been here longer than I was pregnant with you and that in 3 short months you will be one. You turned 9 months on Christmas day and it was so fitting because you are the best present I’ve been given this year and you have brought so much joy to our lives (so much so that I sometimes think that I should have gone with my first instinct and named you joy).
You are the happiest baby I’ve ever known (not that I’ve known many babies… but still). While running errands before Christmas I kept getting stopped by people commenting on how cute you were or being told how much you smile. An older woman in CVS stopped me to tell me all about her children after she saw how sweet you were and while I was in a hurry I listened and smiled because I’m sure someday I’ll want to stop new moms and talk about my children.
You learned how to sit up on your own right after you turned 8 months. You have figured out how to crawl forward and now there is no stopping you. You are curious and fearless and easy-going. Where your brother had to have a strict schedule you are more likely to go with the flow and nap time doesn’t require precision.
You eat like a champ and haven’t met a food you don’t like. You eat 2-3 jars per meal and all of your grandparents are amazed by what a good eater you are. There is no need for airplanes or coaxing you to eat, you are more likely to get mad if the spoon isn’t ready fast enough. You just learned to feed yourself with the baby food pouches and you are very impressed with how fast you can suck down a pouch of food.
Unlike your brother you like attention and hate to not be apart of things. You don’t like to be left in your pack n play and you hate being confined to one space. You are happiest playing on the floor or being carried. You are starting to show signs of separation anxiety and stranger fears but you are quick to warm up if people give you time.
We can’t seem to stop calling you peanut, even though you aren’t much of a peanut anymore. You are big and strong and beautiful and so full of love. You are easily the best thing that happened in 2016 and I can’t wait to see what 2017 brings for you.
