The holiday season is pretty much here. Christmas music in stores and Thanksgiving is just days away. As I start to prep for the holidays I like to stock up on wine to make sure that I have plenty on hand for last minute gifts, to serve at holiday parties and to give as hostess gifts.
I always try to keep wines on hand that are crowd pleasers and that even the pickiest drinkers will like. Lidl’s grocery store offers a wide variety of holiday wines, they recently sent me a sampling of their holiday wines, to review.
3 Holiday Wines for Every Occasion
Pinot Noir
My friends who love red wine and my friends who only drink beer all agree that Pinot Noir is a great red wine. It pairs well with lots of food and is easy to enjoy on it’s own. For me their is nothing like a good red wine to kick off a holiday party.
Try: Mac Forbes Pinot Noir
Chablis
A white wine from the Burgundy region in France, it’s dry white wine with more acidity and less fruitiness. Chablis tastes clean and fresh and just a little bit fancy. Pairs perfectly with that Baked Brie appetizer recipe that you’ve been wanting to make.
Try: Domaine De Oliveira Lecestre Chablis
Sparkling
The holidays are a time to celebrate and I don’t know about you but I’m always looking for a chance to pop bottles. A sparkling wine doesn’t have to be expensive and you can find great sparkling wines at different price points. Want to make your sparkling wine a little more festive, add a few cranberries to the bottom of the glass.
Try: Côte Orelia Blanc de Noirs American Sparkling Wine
However, you celebrate the season it is always great to have a nice bottle of wine on hand whether for a party or an evening at home watching holiday movies or wrapping Christmas presents or when you have an unexpected visit from family. All of these wines are conveniently available at Lidl’s Grocery Store.
Lidl’s provided me with wine to facilitate this post, all thoughts and opinions are my own.
