This year we have set a big travel goal for ourselves. We want to have an adventure every month. Whether that’s traveling or just visiting a local attraction we want to make sure that every month we are striving to see and do new things and make as many memories as possible.
We started our adventures in January with a trip to Philadelphia to go ice skating at the Delaware Blue Cross. We had been there before but had been trying to get back there for a few years. My son got to have some fun on the ice with his Dad and his Uncle and I got to enjoy a spiked hot apple cider.
This month I took Jackson to visit my parents in Marco Island, Florida. While I had been there a bunch of times, the last time Jackson had been there he was a baby, so this experience was a first for him. We went paddleboarding, took a pirate cruise and saw Dolphins. It was an amazing long weekend.
Our trip to Marco Island was my first trip post LASIK surgery. I was really excited at the freedom that traveling without glasses or contacts allowed me.
When I travel I’ve always been worried that I will forget my glasses or lose a contact. Not being able to see, can really ruin a vacation. This time I didn’t have that added level of worry. Which was good because I had enough to worry about traveling by myself with a 7-year-old.
It was also great to see the world with my new eyes. I still find myself in awe of the fact that I’m seeing the world without contacts or glasses. Each experience feels new in it’s own way and it’s hard not to think of my life as being before LASIK and after LASIK. It has been life-changing.
Now that I’ve had my first post-LASIK adventure, I’m ready to have more adventures this year than ever before.
2018 Travel Bucket List
Marco Island, Florida
Beaches and lots of on the water fun, make Marco Island one of our favorite travel destinations. You can learn more about our favorite Marco Island attractions.
Northern California Coast
Next month I’ll be spending 2 days in Pescadero, California. I’m looking forward to seeing a totally different side of the west coast and being enamored by redwood trees.
Smokey Mountains, Tennessee
Tasting moonshine, exploring the mountains and sites of Tennessee is one of our family travel adventures that we are planning for this year.
Girls Weekend
Having a girls weekend away is something I feel should be on every mom’s bucket list every year. This year I’m taking my friends to my hometown of Sea Isle City, NJ for a fun girls weekend.
Disney Cruise
We are ditching tradition and spending Thanksgiving at Disney before setting sail on the Disney Dream. This will be the kids first cruises and considering everything we’ve heard we can’t wait to set sail.
Kid Free Getaway
Mom and Dad deserve to have a little fun once in awhile and dare I say get away without kids once a year. This year we are thinking of visiting the Finger Lakes.
Toy Story Land, Disney World
Toy Story Land opens at Walt Disney World this June. We can’t wait to see what new magic Disney has put together in this land that is themed around one of our favorite movies.
Vermont
I always thought I was a beach gal till I visited Vermont last summer. The mountains are gorgeous, the food is incredible and there is so much to see and do. I can’t wait to go back to Vermont.
For me, 2018 is going to be all about seeing the world with new eyes. It’s about getting out and exploring more. It’s about taking every opportunity to travel and have adventures near and far from home. What places are on your 2018 travel bucket list?
