I wrote a fairly morose post about 2016 and the start of 2017, filled with my worries, my fears, my concerns but I decided not to publish it because the last thing the world needs is one more “oh my god 2016 is the worst” post. I mean I get it. We got a Trump presidency and Princess Leia died, it’s been a rough 12 months.
But there has been good in 2016 even if the good was smaller and more personal and less controversial. So I’ve decided to take back 2016, find the good and bring more of that into 2017.
This Is Us
I rarely find TV shows I like but This Is Us has me wishing for a new episode before the one I’m watching even ends. More new episodes on January 10th on NBC, if you haven’t watched yet you have a few days to catch up.
Nick is the Bachelor
After 2 turns on the Bachelorette and a go at Bachelor in Paradise, love him or hate him Nick is the Bachelor. I hated him on Andi and Caitlin’s seasons but kinda fell for him on Bachelor in Paradise. With Nick as the Bachelor it is clearly going to be the most dramatic season of the Bachelor.
For years I’ve been calling The Bachelor my favorite sport and now I can actually play Fantasy Bachelor on ESPN.com. It’s a rose ceremony miracle! I’ve created a league and I’m inviting all of you to join and play along. Mondays are all about wine, leggings and Bachelor… and prizes join our league and you could win some fun prizes, here’s a sneak peak, Lularoe Leggings and 31 bags.
Tale as Old as Time
Beauty and the Beast gets a live action spin this year. 03/17/17 you might find me in a theater singing.
Nashville gets a second life on CMA, find out if Juliette survived the plane crash and if Rayna and Deacon can make it work. The fun starts January 5th.
Prosecco is good for you! Did you hear all the great things that it does for you? Time to pop bottles in 2017.
They’ve been becoming more and more prevalent and there is basically one for every type of person. I predict 2017 will be the year of the subscription box so subscribe to a few because we all love getting mail. My favorites Stitch Fix, Home Chef and Winc. (affiliate links)
Salted caramel, pho, and smoothie bowels have all been trendy in 2017 Conde Nast is predicting that my personal favorite food fried chicken will be big. Another prediction drone pizza delivery.
2016 was all “Netflix and chill” with Orange is the New Black, The Queen, Stranger Things, Fuller House, and the return of The Gilmore Girls. Netflix really is the new black and now you can download shows and watch them on-the-go, so now you don’t have to wait till you get home to finish your binge.
Women in Power
We had the first female nominee for president in a major political party. I took my daughter to vote for a woman for president. That sentence is not one I could have spoken in 2015. And while Hills didn’t win, she did win the popular vote and yes I know that means little, but 2 million more people voted for a woman for president this year. Regardless of how you felt about Hills; women, girls and even boys need to see more women in leadership roles. I’m hopeful that this isn’t the last time a woman is on the top of the ballot and I’m hopeful that in the future there might be 2 woman at the top of the Pres. ticket.
Was 2016 the worst? Maybe? Possibly? It really depends more, on what happened to you personally this year. For me 2016 will always be the year that I had my daughter, and that in itself makes it a great year. So lets take what was good about 2016 with us into 2017 and lets learn from what we didn’t like about 2016 and make 2017 better.
